Is it the devil ??

Is it the devil or a heart problem ....

The devil is behind all thievery, killing and destroying.. just as Jesus is the author of a blessed life..

There is a Proverbs 4:23 NKJV:  Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

If the issues of life spring out of the heart .. one must question the condition of the heart especially if we are experiencing a not so good life.. rather than blame God or the devil or others..

Take a look at what Jesus said..

Matthew 5:8 NKJV

Blessed are the pure in HEART, For they shall see God.

Matthew 12:34 NKJV

Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the HEART the mouth speaks.

Matthew 12:35 NKJV

A good man out of the good treasure of his HEART  brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

Matthew 13:15 NKJV

For the HEARTS of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their HEARTS and turn, So that I should heal them.'

Understand with the heart.. not the brain

Matthew 13:19 NKJV

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his HEART. This is he who received seed by the wayside.

Matthew 15:18-20 NKJV

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the HEART, and they defile a man. [19] For out of the HEART proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries,…..

I thought …. Thoughts are generated in the brain not the heart … yet clearly Jesus says they proceed from the heart first..

Matthew 15:18 NKJV

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.

Genesis 6:5 NKJV

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Psalm 14:1 NKJV

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.

God was grieved in His heart

Genesis 6:6 NKJV

And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

Hard heart

Mark 6:52 NKJV

For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.

Mark 8:17 NKJV

But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, "Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?

Answers prayer is the result of a healthy heart

Mark 11:23 NKJV

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Mark 11:24 NKJV

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Jesus came to offend the mind to reveal what was in the heart

Luke 2:35 NKJV

(yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."

It has been said our Brain is the centre for instructions.. the brain sends signals as to how to respond.. yes it’s true .. yet where does the brain gets it’s instructions from ??

The brain is just a processor… it must have input..

Can I point out scripture that tell us the heart is the communications head quarters of our life.. what is filtered through the heart sends signals to the brain which then process and distribute for an appropriate response.

Water of the Word

Vessel to receive the Word

The filter of a good heart or dirty heart.. determine the contents

The perceived thoughts were emanating from the heart..

Luke 5:22-24 NKJV

But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts? [23] Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'? [24] But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"-He said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."

Luke 9:47NKJV

And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by Him,

What your heart believes is what you’ll say

But if that servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk,

An end of days epidemic will be a failing of the heart

Luke 21:26 NKJV

men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

The heart is where conversion happens

Acts 2:37-38 NKJV

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" [38] Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 8:37 NKJV

Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

Romans 10:10 NKJV

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Unable to receive the gift of God with a heart that is not right..

Sourceror wants to buy power of Holy Spirit

Acts 8:20-21 NKJV

But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! [21] You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.

The battle is lost or won in the heart

2 Corinthians 4:16 NKJV

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NKJV

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, [18] while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Proverbs 15:13 NKJV

A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Proverbs 12:25 NKJV

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.

Nehemiah 2:1-2 NKJV

And it came to pass in the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, that I took the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had never been sad in his presence before. [2] Therefore the king said to me, "Why is your face sad, since you are not sick? This is nothing but sorrow of heart." So I became dreadfully afraid,

Proverbs 13:12 NKJV

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

One of Jesus main anointing is to heal the broken heart..

Luke 4:14-18 NKJV

Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. [15] And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. [16] So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. [17] And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: [18] "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

Sin breaks the heart

King Davids heart broke at the loss of his son.

2 Samuel 12:15-23 NKJV

Then Nathan departed to his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and it became ill. [16] David therefore pleaded with God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground. [17] So the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor did he eat food with them. [18] Then on the seventh day it came to pass that the child died. And the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child was dead. For they said, "Indeed, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not heed our voice. How can we tell him that the child is dead? He may do some harm!" [19] When David saw that his servants were whispering, David perceived that the child was dead. Therefore David said to his servants, "Is the child dead?" And they said, "He is dead." [20] So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate. [21] Then his servants said to him, "What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food." [22] And he said, "While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, 'Who can tell whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?' [23] But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me."

Did the devil take his son ??

We blame so much on others when we need to join the dots..

2 Samuel 12:1-14 NKJV

Then the LORD sent Nathan to David. And he came to him, and said to him: "There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor. [2] The rich man had exceedingly many flocks and herds. [3] But the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb which he had bought and nourished; and it grew up together with him and with his children. It ate of his own food and drank from his own cup and lay in his bosom; and it was like a daughter to him. [4] And a traveler came to the rich man, who refused to take from his own flock and from his own herd to prepare one for the wayfaring man who had come to him; but he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him." [5] So David's anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan, "As the LORD lives, the man who has done this shall surely die! [6] And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity." [7] Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! Thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. [8] I gave you your master's house and your master's wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more! [9] Why have you despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in His sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon. [10] Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.' [11] Thus says the LORD: 'Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. [12] For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.'" [13] So David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die. [14] However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die."

Sin will break the heart..

David sin was birthed out of being at the wrong place at the wrong time ..

2 Samuel 11:1-2 NKJV

It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. [2] Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold.

Jesus took your sin to heal your heart

Luke 22:44 NKJV

And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Healing of the heart binding it up, becoming whole will cause your life to turn around..  from having a filter that says

Your vocab will change, you see things differently.. because your heart has changed.

You no longer say things like

No one wants to listen to me

I can never do it right

Every time I try it fails

If they really saw who I was they wouldn’t like me

I can never say the right thing

Im not very lovable

I’m stupid

No one likes me

I don’t know how to love

I’m not very good with people

I’m better by myself than with others

No one respects what I have to say

Your heart does not really care if you cannot hammer a nail correctly .. it does however matter if it’s connected in someway to the relationship it’s hammering the nail for..

In 2nd grade we were asked by our teacher for a volunteer to perform a duck wodle… my hand shot up as quick as lightning as I ran yo the front of the class to show my fellow mates what a duck woddel looks like..

Well my teacher wasn’t impressed … my immediate response was to hang my head and casually swing my arm around as if it didn’t matter to me what he thought.. to my utter shock and his, my fist connected to his groin.. and in that instant I heard such a loud cry and grown all at once spewing loud vulgar words I’m unable to say hit my ears as I froze in that moment.. my heart pounding within me… my bowls released as I sat on my chair back at my desk utterly humiliated, wet with urine, and ashamed.. the heart damaged.. making an inner bow that latter had yo be broken saying “I’ll never step out I front of others again”

how much responsibility was on me??

How much responsibility was the teachers.. ???

He was a figure of authority in my life.. and it formed a broken view that I was not good enough by my authority.. it came with it the feelings of shame when ever I was asked by someone  in authority to do something publicly.. my heart would pound and und get all sweaty as I’d be transported back to that experience of wetting myself from fright and the associated  shame.

What is the first thing you do when your heart is hurt??

You shut it down… you no longer give access to your heart..

The devil knows if he can shut your heart down.. you’ll mess your own life all by your self..

Isaiah 54:17 NKJV

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD.

Jesus said it’s from the heart one forgives… it’s the heart that rules.. you’ll stay stuck because of your heart..

Steps to a healthy heart

  1. Surrender to the Lordship of Jesus.. be converted in your heart.. Peter, John the Baptist and Jesus himself talked about repentance..

Matthew 4:17 NKJV

From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Luke 24:47-49 NKJV

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. [48] And you are witnesses of these things. [49] Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."

It may not have been your fault.. but it’s your choice and act or your will to turn to Jesus and receive your new heart..

Ezekiel 11:19-21 NKJV

Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, [20] that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. [21] But as for those whose hearts follow the desire for their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their deeds on their own heads," says the Lord GOD.

  1. Draw near

Hebrews 10:22-23 NKJV

let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. [23] Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Be intentional even if it’s hurting, don’t draw back but draw closer knowing He heals your heart..

James 4:8 NKJV

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Matthew 15:8 NKJV

'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.

  1. Hope allow hope to spring up..

Hebrews 7:19 NKJV

for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

Romans 5:1-2 NKJV

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, [2] through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

James 4:8 NKJV

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

  1. Renew your mind .. allow the Words of Christ to replace the lies the broken heart have been saying..

Romans 10:17 NKJV

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 12:2 NKJV

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Cooperate with the renewal process….. don’t say it’s too hard.. only agree with the Word of God until you are confident the heart is also in agreement.
