Mark 4:35-41 NKJV
On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side." [36] Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. [37] And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. [38] But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" [39] Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. [40] But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" [41] And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!"
Jesus after preaching and teaching to the multitudes and his disciples all day tells his disciples we are going over to the other side…
Faith comes by hearing the preached word.. Roman 10:17.
Jesus preached on the parable of the sower, not hiding your light under a basket, the growing seed, the mustard seed… a day you could say that was full of faith… a full convention of mountain moving faith…
Not only did Jesus preach and teach all day in parables… He took the time to expound and explain these parables and the application to His disciples..
The Word, Jesus Himself plainly declaring the power and kingdom for a whole day…
Now it’s time to move… it’s time to get to the other side where a great awakening is about to erupt..
But on the way ….

This Word was just as powerful as all the days words He spoke …
Still living… still able to produce…. Still powerful

And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
Great : mega exceedingly great
Windstorm : whirlwind a violent agitation and stream of air
As a result of this great mega violent agitation stream of air, the waters began to stir.. so much that the boat was filling with water and looked like it could tip..
Maybe the disciples were tired from the day..

Fear is a liar …
instead of holding onto the WORD they looked at their circumstances and opened the door to a spirit of fear..
How many times does the Bible say do not fear ? My search found 72 verses
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
It’s a spirit sent from hell to get you to agree with your circumstances..
what you see happening …
what looks like a failure.. disaster..
broken …
going under …
all these are possibilities from the spirit of fear… brining with it real emotional turmoil..
Notice the spirit of fear will also accuse God for not caring about you…

Yet the Word of God tells us He cares for us..

How many times do you need to hear that Jesus loves you ??
You’re not appointed to death but you are appointed to life… and Jesus was on his way to a great appointment of life for a whole region..

What is the truth are they going to drown ?? Will they perish in the storm ??

When Jesus says we are going to the other side … there is power in those words to allow us to arrive there… but along the way Jesus demonstrates a powerful teaching..
Jesus who is loved by the Father is asleep..
When you know you’re loved, your sleep is sweet… no matter what storm arrises … his love for you keeps you at rest… the bible says.. the Father loves you as much as Jesus..
John 17:23 NKJV
I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
Jesus understood and could discern the origin of the storm..
Being spiritual will give you the upper hand

The origin of this storm is from the devil …

Jesus stood up….
You will be required to make a stand if you want to do Gods will… to obey the words “ let us cross over to the other side “. In this instance required a spiritual alertness … to have faith in those words and recognise there is an enemy preventing the success of this mission…
We tend to focus more on the waves but those who are discerning and spiritual will see the waves are just the product of a demonic stirring of the wind…
Jesus dealt with the wind…
Rebuke : forbid..admonish sharply .. take charge .. it’s used in the sense of ruling over as a magistrate ..

Jesus knew what power He had been given… do you ??

Jesus stood up….. using the magistrative power Again the principalities and powers that were blowing this great wind … He took charge .. He ruled over it…
Jesus then spoke to the waves “be still”
He first had to deal with the strongman before he could deal with the effects…

No one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.
You could speak all your life to a circumstance and never get any relief … why ??
Because you have not dealt with the demonic behind the circumstance..

IT takes faith in God.. to speak and see results ..
Jesus had demonstrated this daily yet his disciples were yet to grab hold … fear was still a greater reality than faith..
Jesus spoke to the fig tree and it withered from its roots within 24 hours..
Jesus marvel at the centurions faith

Faith in His WORDs brings results …

Fear is evidence there is no faith …
Hebrews 11:1-2 NKJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. [2] For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
Where was the evidence that they were going to make it to the other side ??
In the Words spoken by Jesus…
These words fill us with hope so that by faith not looking at the waves, the natural we can spiritually discern and rebuked the demonic.. then by faith speak to the waves natural.
Our FAITH sees the substance available to us
the hope of getting to the other side fills us with the faith needed for the journey..
You are going to make it to the other side…
This will not be your outcome if you have not invited Jesus into your boat… He must be your Lord and Saviour… simply surrender your life in exchange for His.. and begin your new journey of freedom in Him…
