The day of Pentecost was such a miraculous day !!!
In the book of Acts chapter 2 . They all had to wait in the upper room for the promise. They didn’t know what the promise looked like nor how long they had to wait.
There was over 500 of them to begin with based on this scripture
1 Corinthians 15:6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
After 10 days there was only 120 left in this upper room. What happened to the 380? What could possibly be the reason?
Maybe there was no food during this wait? We don’t know for sure, perhaps 10 days of fasting was way too much for some. Remember that the disciples didn’t fast as John’s disciples, nor the Pharisees. We know this because his disciples were accused of not fasting
Matthew 9:14-15 One day the disciples of John the Baptist came to Jesus and asked him, "Why don't your disciples fast like we do and the Pharisees do?" [15] Jesus replied, "Do wedding guests mourn while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
They were in unity and in one place. That alone is a miracle!!! Especially if they were fasting !!! Imagine containing your annoyance of a brother or sister on top of no food !!! I can barely do this with my husband let alone 500 people all waiting in an upper room. Did they stay there day and night? Did they only go to the upper room for 1 hour a day? Try saying to a believer today that God will give you your breakthrough by fasting and waiting in the upper room indefinitely You’ll have to rearrange all your schedule, take all your holiday hours, including leave and just wait in the upper room.
Scripture doesn’t expand except
One thing is for sure, they all saw fire which appeared to them as tongues of fire resting on their head. It was an obvious visual manifestation of the promise. And everyone who made it, stuck it out, pushed through, endured and never gave up, that morning were all filled with the Holy Spirit. They left the upper room with power all speaking in tongues
fully drunk or what it looked like to the onlookers in the market square 9 am that morning.
Peter using this opportunity to preach boldly to the gathering crowd proclaiming Joels prophecy of Gods Spirit being poured out, then of the glorious Gospel. Simeon’s prophecy was demonstrated that morning Luke 2:34-35
[34] Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against [35] (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."
The people were cut to the heart and revealed their condition as lost in need of a saviour, they asked Peter what can they do ???
Peter calls for a mass repentance, baptism, and salvation that added 3000 that day to the church.
So perfectly designed was this day, you could say it was a miracle.
That’s when it occurred to me that power has a sound !!! The supernatural outpouring has a sound that will bring the outsiders to look and see and be saved . That sound was for a select people who were willing to wait in the upper room indefinitely.
Today we are in the shaking that is sorting out the upper room blessing. The wheat and the tares. The shaking is designed to remove what is not of God. What can be shaken will be shaken .
Hebrews 12:27-28 Now this, "Yet once more," indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. [28] Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
Gideon experienced the testing and separating of his army by God in the book judges chapter 7. Out of 33000 warriors God whittled them down to 300 that would fight the enemy and win. The natural man would’ve thought all the more is needed!!!! Yet God is looking for those who are not compromised, wavering or fearful. Just like Gideon and just like Pentecost we will have a remnant people who have not sold out to the pull of the world. They will stand strong, and declare the Word of God with the Power of the Spirit of God. It will be evidenced by a mighty sound that will draw the onlookers to want to see and then be saved.
